true, and a stock cooling setup in good working condition will run cool when driving and thermo will only kick in when sitting stationary for a while. either way is good.
check out my build thread: http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/fo...-shuttle-wagon
16v's you run a switch in the back of the head that replaces cold start injector(wow it turns over 2-3 times more when cold then normal) and it trips at 90 degree's and cuts out at 85 or something i think mine is, tidy as setup
you have to take into consideration an altinator does need Power for it to work, when you thermo's kick in, drawing 30 odd amps its goign to load the alt more, which will load the engine up more
so whats the difference between the fan loading up the engine (and doing a better job at moving air than the thermo)
and
the alternator loading up the engine to power the thermo fan.....which requires more effort to install
??
my point exactly, people say they drain power, EXACTLY like your alt will powering thermo's
if you have a good working clutch fan USE IT, if you think its rooted, unbolt the fan(plastic peice) and take the centre to a good parts store they can match them up, or you can buy a repair kit, you drill the centre assembly empty any oil/liquid inside, and refill it with liquid supplied in the kit, then you go over the whole with "knead it" like material, that is supplied in the kit
thanks guys, I need to source a JDM rwd water pump pulley now as I will want to stick with clutch fan setup for better cooling as I dont want to pop my head again, if anyone has a spare pulley let me know.
