    Default 4agze diagnose box

Hey guys, kinda new here and just bought a 86 with a ae101 4agze in it...

everythings fine but i just wanted to check it for error codes.. ive been searching around the engine bay for hours looking for a little diagnose box but cant find anything!

any ideas where i should be looking and what it looks like (ae101 4agze loom - stock ecu)

hoping who ever did the wiring did chop it...

    Cheers.

Dont worry about locating the box, no one would know where it would be because your car isn't an ae101 and therefore the loom will be somewhat custom

So i suggest actually looking at the ecu pin outs and finding the diagnostic wire. Below is a link to ae101 4agze pin outs off club4ag, all you need to do is bridge pins TE1 (most always a blue wire with white trace) and E1 (a brown wire, which is one of the ecu earth wires). If you haven't hooked up a check engine light yet you will need to do so(again refer to the link below to find the pin out - the ecu earths this pin and does not provide power to the light).

If you don't have a check engine light hooked up, you'll also need to add one... Power from ignition to a globe, and what would normally be the earth goes to W. Diag box is pretty similar to this one...

If you goto the effort of splicing into the ecu wiring, put a switch on it so you can turn the diagnostics on / off easily. If you trace the wires from the back of the head over he gearbox, it should be around there somewhere if it hasn't been cut / removed.

wow thanks for the help guys, good to see a helpful community here

that box is no where to be seen, so looks like its been cut

i think ill wire a switch between te1 and e1 (great idea!) and hook up a light and go from there

    Thanks guys.

Adding a switch is a good idea, you can the use it to set timing if and when needed. Also just make sure when connecting e1 dont cut the wire, but rather tap off the wire as this is a vital engine earth. The diagnostic wire te1 doesn't matter so much as it really only goes to the ecu and diagnostic box for the bridge purpose.
