    Default Heater controls

    Hi everyone,

I've found another part that doesn't make any sense, so it's an ADM AE86 non-A/C (although the controls have A/C buttons?). The engine is a 4AGE bigport.
I'm trying to hook up the controls and found that there is a wire control (manual) that goes through the firewall to where the heater control is. But the heater control with the engine/car (we bought the car in parts) doesn't have a manual connection, it is connected into the engine harness and has a vacuum connection on the top.
For people with some confusion as to what part i'm talking about, it is attached to the firewall to the pass-side of the clutch master and is "in-line" with the top heater hose.

    Anyone got any input?

I still haven't had any luck finding a workshop manual, only a repair manual for the AE86 which only has the 'body sections' of the workshop manual and not the engine specific parts.

i think your referring to the heater tap, sounds like you have some weird aftermarket thing.
pictures came from searching ae86 heater diagram on google, there is a section on the heater in the manual, just download all the manuals from here in the tech docs thread and have a search
also i could be wrong but i think just about every 86 sold here had air con, and the odd ones out did not have the ac/econ buttons on the heater controls. either somebody swapped the heater control panel or your car never had air con

Not aftermarket, just the vac controlled heater tap for climate control systems (optional on gt-apex). Sounds like you just need a manual heater tap...

As for adm's and a/c, out of 4 adm's ive owned, 2 were fitted with a/c and 2 were not. A/C was optional, but it was pretty easy to fit at the dealers (one of mine was fitted at time of purchase, came with extra sticker pack).

Even today, imported toyotas are locally fitted with air con at the dealers.

^^ Yep,along with the stereo head unit and alloy wheels/hub caps. It helps their stat percentage for 'local manufacturing'...
