Cheers mate i think id better have a long talk to an engineer before i start ordering seats
You seem to have the idea here a bit wrong.......
The seats have nothing to do with engineering, means nothing to the engineer.... It is the RTA that cares about the seats..... People often get this wrong..... Even if a car is engineered, it still has to meet the NON-NEGOTIABLE STANDARD ROADWORTHY REQUIREMENTS.
Sure the engineer can 'engineer' the bride seats, But RTA can/will still knock it back....
EDIT: Things like seat rails is the engineers business, just not the actual seats themselves

1974 MX22 MARK II CORONA HARDTOP COUPE - Awaiting a full restoration
Cheers mate i think id better have a long talk to an engineer before i start ordering seats
I just left stock seats in mine with the engineering and for the RTA inspection..... Just put my Brides in when I got home afterwards....
In 4 years, and pulled over countless times to hassle me about the car (NSW & ACT), I never ever got asked about the seats......
In fact, as soon as I whip out my engineers cert (62 pages binded book! hahaha), the coppers always back right off, and let me go..... Technically, Police officers are NOT QUALIFIED to even read/dispute an engineers cert.... Vehicle inspectors and some traffic police are the only ones actually qualified to read and assess the cert or car...
It helps if you know your rights!

that is slightly incorrect.
The engineer is giving a piece of paper to say that the car meets all applicable ADR's or vehicle modification rules.
It is up to the engineer to make sure that the parts fitted meet the ADR's.
Now that the RTA has become more strict and has started asking for test reports for things like bodgy aftermarket seats, it is in the engineers best interest to only sign off on legit items.
Seats AND seat rails are part of the same ADR. ADR 3 - seat & seat anchorages
The VSCCS has been introduced so that now the roadworthy requirements of the RTA are the same for the engineer. It aimed to rid of all the bodgy engineers, among other things....but I wouldnt sign off on some chinese seat if i havent seen a test report knowing that my job/possessions/future depended on it.
yeah, ok. laws must be slightly differant here in the ACT......

I think NSW is a bit different to everywhere.
I think the guide for NSW is; take any law from another state, add another fee to it and make it harder to abide by, then change it....lol
Either way, thats only my advice coming from an engineering point of view.
My car isnt engineered, never will be either. If everyone knew the rules, it would be much easier to stick by them, or at least take educated risks instead of being unsafe....
Cheers for everyones input. I think it would be best if i talk to an engineer on the matter. Does anyone have any engineers they would recomend in the wollongong to sydney region
take your pick from any of them in the list.
Get Autobarn seats and put a bride logo on them
Get them engineered as "Bride Copy Seats"
Put your legit Brides back in
????
PROFIT!
Your going to need seats with an ADR approved tag before an engineer will pass them
