    Default 4ac no spark!!

the problem:Car was driving fine until the other day when all of a sudden it would not kick over. made sure i had fuel. yup. tried to clutch it; didnt even want to kick over. nrma said i got no spark, so it could be coil or module on the dizzy. im running a eletronic dizzy from a ae82 i belive. i can smell fuel easily after i try to start it up.

replaced: spark pluggs, new coil & a second hand (working to my knownledge) electronic distributor module.

my carby is pretty rooted hunting idle .etc could this stop it from igniting??
im pretty lost and i need this baby for work asap. i have a spare working carby or a webber ready to go.
i just want to get it going again, any help or ideas would be much appreciated

Make sure the coil is getting +ve 12V on ignition to the + side of the coil. If not check the ignition wiring (black orange wire) for any faults or bad connection. Make sure leads including coil lead is good, and cap and rotor are clean and free from corrosion.

if you got no spark at all, and you think your leads might be dodgy, maybe the single lead from your coil to your distributer is no good.

if you unplug the lead from the coil and kick it over, the spark should arc from the coil to the body. be careful as its a fairly nasty spark. if you get a spark here then id be trying a new single lead from coil-dizzy. i woudlnt go and buy a brand new set of leads straight away untill you know its a problem, leads arent cheap!

another test is chuck one of the other spark plug leads straight onto the coil, with spark plug attached, and see if you can get the spark plug to spark while turning it over etc. also as others have said ensure that the ground trigger wire from the distributor to the coil is connected well. im not sure how the electronic dizzy is setup, but it will have that wire somewhere.

if your engine isnt earthed properly then the spark plugs wont fire, but you say it happened all of a sudden so as long as you didnt undo any earthing points before hand then you should be right.if your temp gauge still works than the engine is earthed fine.
