E7 wagon/ panelvan rear coilovers

So. Was thinking of making rear coilovers for my ae71 panelvan using the factory body mounts and just modifying the diff. (G series) I had a search around but found nothing like this. Just a few people making box section and fitting full length s13 rears. Has anyone done anything like this or know of any threads I could look at? I've got an idea on how I think I should go about it, but would be good to get other people thoughts and opinions. Car isn't driving atm but is just running flipped leaves with no shocks as of yet. Need to make mounts for those anyway.

I would suggest at least stitch welding around the body mounts, they aren't really made to have the weight of the car resting on them. I can't see any reason on why it couldn't be done, but then I've never played around with leaves before.

The shocks bolt into there own little housing and then the housing bolts to the body. Might need to strengthen the housing.

Get onto matt99 on here, he put the coilovers inside the actually car and framed/boxed them out. Ask him about it.

Yeah I've talked to him before. I don't want to box them out. Want to try and keep it as factory looking as possible and want to keep the back flat. Thanks for the thought tho

I have read about a Pano on this site, some kit offered that comprised of single rear leaf used as a helper/diff locator and coilovers being installed to the stock shock mounts.
I totally disagree with using the stock shock mounts
My opinion extends to AE86 and AE/KE7x sedan or any thing that uses a separate spring and shock, where just re using stock shock mounts with no re-enforcement.
Yeah, but don't have solution for ya?

I figured I would have to reinforce the shock mount which shouldn't be a drama. I think I know how I need to do things will be my fab mate to have a look and see what he recons. Goin to have to make mount in the diff anyway for normal shocks as I have none on atm. (Hilux shocks mount one forward and one back) and stock shocks won't move that way.

I am planning on just making up a strong flat plate to replace the top mounting. It looks pretty simple to do and should easily be strong enough.

What do u mean jojo? The top plate is like a cup sort of thing. Do u mean just have some flat plate in place of the cup and bolt that to the body? Doing that, the coilovers will need to be even shorter again.

Yeah, just a flat plate to replace the "cup".....

I am using megan AE86 coilovers..... What are you using?
