As temperature increases so does resistance.
A hot starter will draw more current, they do not like getting hot hence why lots of starter have heat shields to protect them from exhausts / catalytic converters / turbo manifolds and dump pipes.

Also if the bushes are flogged out in the starter, when it gets hot it can start poleing...
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

Thanks Javal that explains why it starts when cold but not hot. Though the big thing that leads me to think it is the battery is with a "booster" pack the starter motor works.

i'd be getting an amp clamp over the main starter wire and seeing what the draw is whilst holding a multimeter on across the battery terminals to make sure it doesn't drop below 10v at up to the value of the CCA of the battery.

If the amperage draw is > 300 odd, I'd suspect the starter is faulty when hot.

Doesn't matter if engine is hot or cold....
Car can be stone cold, and it will still be flat if I stall it......
Nothing wrong with alternator. charges at 14.1v

Stalled as in go to pull away, revs too low and engine stalls ? Ignition still on with engine not running at this point.
What happens if you drive the car long enough to warm it up and then switch it off with the key and go to re-start it ?

Starts fine if was turned off, engine temp is irrelevant.

Scenario 1 - Last month drove to sydney (3 hrs). Got to a servo in tempe, turned off car normally, got fuel, and started up again, as I went to pull out into the princess hwy, I stalled it. Go to restart, and battery is flat. I had to push start the car.

Scenario 2 - Car is cold (eg sitting overnight), I start it normally. If I stall it while backing out etc, then battery is flat....

Sounds weird. I am very suspicious of batteries, I'd borrow one from another car and check if you see the same symptoms. If it still does then I'm stumped.

Why would the battery cause this symptom if it can hold charge for days?

I have my battery mounted under the floor at the back (Panelvan), so getting to it is not as easy as it sounds.....

EDIT: Actually come to think of it, I have used other batteries in the past in other shells, so its not the battery

I can't see how it wouldn't be the battery... Soley because if you put a jumper pack on it and it starts.

Try leaving your headlights on for 15 mins without the car running and then starting it or starting with your head lights on to see what happens.

The other thing worth asking is does it happen every single time the same?
