hmmmmm, turns out the deal that was too good to be true was too good to be true...

Took delivery of the turbo today and it turns out the dude thought that a GT2871R was any Ball bearing T28

What it actually is is a stock S15 turbo Sometimes known as a T28BB but also known as a T2560R...

    ...

    ...

So not as cool as I was hoping, the dude has apparently already spent the money (so can't really just return it) but thinking I might be able to score an SR gearbox or something to bring it back to par.

Robbo, if the other motor has a decent turbo on it I would be interested for the right price.

    Cheers

Well they say that Dentists and Air Traffic Controllers have high suicide rates, but after the last few days I can't understand why people who have to do paint prep for a living don't top the charts

So, I pulled out everything else that might get in the way of painting the engine bay. On the way I thought I would take a snap of how huge the commodore brakes look in the front:

Anyway, after dumping everything (ie front xmember etc) the car looked like this:

Then I wax and grease removed, Sanded to give the primer something to stick to, then re- wax and grease removed. After a bit of this I basically cracked the shits and called it a day. So for now one side looks pretty schmicko:

In other news, my diff arrived in Canberra today so I will go and pick it up tomorrow then hopefully lay down a layer of primer in the afternoon.

yeah Z is pretty clean. There is another guy in Canberra who might be interested in buying it without the motor or box and then dropping his SR20 in it. I certainly hope that all works because I am keen to see how it all goes in the end

I figure you must just drive past on the way to work or a mates place hey?
